'Brave the Wild River' tells the story of 2 botanists who explored the Colorado River in the '30s

In the summer of 1938, two botanists took a trip down the Colorado River. They wanted to catalog cactuses in and around the Grand Canyon.

Now, a new book details their trek, based in part on letters and diary entries made by the two women, as well as others on the expedition.

Melissa Sevigny is a science reporter at KNAU in Flagstaff; her book is called “Brave the Wild River.” She joined The Show to talk about it.
