Maricopa County Attorney's Office seeks sanctions against Kari Lake

Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell has asked a Superior Court judge to sanction losing Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake and her attorneys.

Earlier this week, a Maricopa County Superior Court judge ruled against Lake’s last remaining challenge to her 17,000  vote November election loss to Governor Katie Hobbs.

In her Tuesday filings, Mitchell claimed Lake’s counsel made demonstrably false statements to the court during that trial, like stating the election was rigged.

Mitchell also argued Lake’s counsel misrepresented testimony from county officials.

Attorneys for Lake have already been sanctioned twice — once by the Arizona Supreme Court following the election, and once by a federal court judge in a separate case regarding voting machines.
