Ylenia Aguilar enters race for Arizona's 3rd Congressional District

Ylenia Aguilar has announced her campaign for Congress.

She joins a growing field of Democrats in Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District vying to replace incumbent Rep. Ruben Gallego, who’s vacating the seat to run for U.S. Senate.

The 3rd Congressional District includes most of southern, western, and downtown Phoenix, as well as a portion of Glendale.

Aguilar is an elected member of the Osborn School District and Central Arizona Project Water Board.

Among other things, she said she will fight for living wages, a woman's right to choose, and affordable health care for families.

Senior field correspondent Bridget Dowd has a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
