Expect more freeway closures and delays as repair projects underway across AZ

The Arizona Department of Transportation says drivers should prepare for lane restrictions and delays as more than 20 pavement projects across the state are set to begin. Some are already underway.

The repairs are mostly in northern Arizona to address pavement damage caused by winter weather.

Projects include sections of I-40, I-17, I-10 and U.S. 60, among others.

ADOT allocated more than $50 million to fund these critical repairs. It has also proposed to spend another $40 million, pending a June 16 approval by the State Transportation Board. Separately, the new state budget includes $54 million for pavement  repairs in rural areas.

More information can be found on a special website ADOT created, which provides an interactive map, schedules and other info: azdot.gov/statewide-critical-pavement-repair-projects
