The Affordable Care Act requires private insurers to cover certain preventive health screenings with no out-of-pocket costs for the patient. But a recent federal court decision out of Texas would block enforcement of that rule.
The Biden administration is appealing the decision.
Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes is among those calling for the U.S. Court of Appeals to overturn the lower court's ruling.
“Beyond just the human impact of this, these services have saved our state an untold amount of money in health care costs," Mayes told reporters Thursday.
Health services in question include cancer screenings, certain vaccinations and drugs that can prevent HIV.
