Fontes asks judge to toss legal bid against No Labels Party

Arizona’s secretary of state is asking a judge to toss a legal bid to keep the No Labels Party off the 2024 ballot.

With the new filing, Democrat Adrian Fontes is joining the effort by attorneys for the No Labels Party to dismiss the challenge.

An attorney for Fontes says the Arizona Democratic Party has no legal basis to challenge the decision that No Labels meets all qualifications to run candidates.

That is because it had gathered enough signatures to meet the threshold to appear on  the ballot.

The Democratic Party alleges legal flaws in the paperwork filed with Fontes. An attorney for the Democrats also says No Labels is set up as a nonprofit organization, meaning that it is not required to disclose donors.
