While Arizonans are safe from the Canadian wildfire smoke continuing to impact the northeastern U.S., this state still has its own pollution issues. Ozone advisories are in effect through Saturday.
Meteorologist Matt Pace with the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality says while the air is not as bad as the East Coast, the situation needs to be monitored.
“If you are certainly smelling smoke, you’re breathing it, so limit your outdoor activity if you are smelling that smoke," Pace said.
The Maricopa County Air Quality Department has also issued a no-burn day for June 9 and June 10.
ADEQ is issuing a High Pollution Advisory (HPA) for ozone, effective June 9 & 10, 2023, in Phoenix.
