Sports bettors wagered more than $644 million in Arizona in March. That’s the second-highest monthly total reported by the state since sports betting became legal here in September 2021.
Max Hartgraves, public information officer with the Arizona Department of Gaming, said it’s no surprise Arizonans were betting big.
“Throughout winter and spring, into March Madness, we tend to see higher levels of wagering in the state just because you have sports like NFL, NBA, March Madness going on which are popular for bettors across the U.S.,” Hartgraves said. "We'll see probably that wagering levels tend to decrease as it moves through summer into fall."
Fees from sports betting in March brought in $3.7 million to the state’s general fund.
