Gov. Katie Hobbs vetoed a bill Monday that would have imposed new requirements for solar and wind generating plants.
Hobbs said the legislation would have been a potential barrier to renewable energy.
The bill contained a list of what cities, towns and counties could adopt in zoning standards and permitting requirements for such facilities.
The measure also would have required owners to have a decommissioning plan in place and to post a bond to cover the costs if the company went bankrupt.
Republican Rep. Gail Griffin said counties already have some oversight of projects and that this would create standards statewide.
However, the Democratic governor said the measure encouraged inconsistent regulations for renewable energy.
