The Arizona Transportation Board has approved its new five-year program, which includes more than $9 billion in transportation investments.
Spokesperson Garin Groff says about a billion dollars is going to the widening of Interstate 10.
“Interstate 10 is already three lanes in each direction between Phoenix and Tucson except for this stretch from Phoenix to Casa Grande. So this really completes this very long-term project," Groff said.
This plan comes after more than 1,000 people reviewed the initial plan and later got ADOT to add more pavement replacement projects.
