'En garde!' is the first sound on the way to victory for the USA Fencing Summer Nationals

There is no shortage of sports spectacles for Valley fans to attend.

Add fencing to the list.

“En garde. Ready. Fence. Attack left. Touch. Point.”

Those are some of the phrases you might hear from a referee at the upcoming USA Fencing 2023 Summer Nationals as foils of fury will abound in the Phoenix Convention Center June 30–July 9 when more than 5,300 of the country’s top men and women fencers face off.

Of course the clank of sparring blades will also be prominent.

Over 180 registered competitors are from Arizona and range from ages 8-82.

The best perk: admission is free.
