Nancy Pelosi to help U.S. Senate candidate Ruben Gallego raise money

Arizona’s senior U.S. senator won’t yet say if she’s running for re-election next year.

Kyrsten Sinema’s top would-be challenger so far is set to get fundraising help Thursday from the former leader of the Democratic party.

A spokesperson for Ruben Gallego’s 2024 Senate campaign says former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will take part in a fundraiser supporting Gallego.

Pelosi once counted Gallego and Sinema as members of her caucus.

But Sinema left the Democratic party while a senator. And Gallego now aims to leverage voter frustration with Sinema into a promotion to Congress’s upper chamber.

An invitation posted online by NBC News says the fundraiser will be virtual.

Suggested contributions range from $6,600 for sponsors to $500 for guests.
