Maricopa County Parks and Recreation increasing fire restrictions

Maricopa County Parks and Recreation are increasing the fire restrictions at all the parks they oversee.

The Diamond Fire borders McDowell Mountain Regional Park. Nearby residents and park staff had previously been evacuated, but there was some fire damage.

To keep more parks, which often border residential homes fire free, the head of the county’s Parks and Recreation has heightened fire restrictions to prohibit all smoking, except in enclosed vehicles or campers.

What also remains banned until future notice is all campfires, fire pits and charcoal-powered grills. Gas and propane grills are still allowed.
