ASU expands work with Jane Goodall Institute

A year and a half ago, ASU adopted an archive containing more than 60 years of wild chimpanzee observations begun by animal behaviorist Jane Goodall.

This week, the university expanded its partnership with the Jane Goodall Institute, a global, community-led organization founded in 1977.

Though rooted in the welfare of chimpanzees and other great apes, its broader mission focuses on conservation for the common good.

Under the new agreement, ASU will provide researchers and educational paths to help expand the institute’s global youth program, Roots & Shoots, which mobilizes young people in more than 60 countries to improve their communities through service projects.

The university says it also hopes to support research in the Greater Gombe and other Tanzanian sites through research and service-learning opportunities.
