Pickleball courts are popping up all over the place — they’re replacing tennis courts at public parks, being added in apartment and condo complexes and even being built into malls.
Recent surveys estimate more than 36 million Americans are playing pickleball. But, the explosive growth of the sport has brought an increase in sports-related injuries: sprains, strains and fractures, among other maladies.
A note from UBS analysts estimates pickleball-related injuries would cost Americans between $250,000 and $500,000 in medical costs this year.
