In especially hard terrain, technology like drones, helps firefighters take out blazes

Given Arizona's diverse — and sometimes, dangerous — terrain, fire officials often rely on technology to help them monitor and put out wildfires.

Tiffany Davila is with the Department of Forestry and Fire Management.

“We have satellite based mapping systems that we can actually in real time watch the fire grow, watch the fire’s movement. We can see where the heat signatures are, where there may be more heat,” Davila said.

Davila says drones are also utilized to learn where to best send crews.
