Arizona gets $2 million federal literacy grant

Arizona has been awarded a two-year, $2,064,650 grant intended to help close achievement gaps for disadvantaged children.

The state’s application for it said the funds will help boost literacy for children living in poverty, English language learners, kids with disabilities and those from underrepresented communities.

The Arizona Department of Education made the announcement this week, but hasn’t said how those dollars will be distributed.
