Pilot Fire: The latest on the wildfire in the Mohon Mountains near Wikieup

July 19: Monitoring remote fire

The human-caused fire is 95% contained at 34,810 acres.

July 18: Air crews fight fire

Officials said air crews are working to control the fire daily. Containment was 88% on July 18, with 34,810 acres burned.

July 13: Pilot Fire is 42% contained

Containment on the fire increased to 42% on July 13 according to officials, while the blaze has burned 34,778 acres. 

July 12: Pilot Fire is 39% contained

The Pilot Fire has grown to more than 33,000 acres, but containment has also increased on July 12.

Crews will continue to work to reduce fuel in the area, which has a substantial fire history.

July 10: Pilot Fire in Yavapai County burns more than 32,000 acres

The Pilot Fire in Yavapai County has burned more than 32,000 acres since its start on July 1.

The blaze is only 5% contained.

Near Wikieup, crews have successfully established a containment line around most of the fire. But the rough terrain in the mountainous area has slowed fire suppression efforts.

Fire officials know the blaze was human caused but have released no further details.

The fire continues to grow and is being monitored by aircraft.
