There is a slight chance of rain in metro Phoenix next week

The worst of the heat is yet to come for Phoenix. Some areas will likely see record high temperatures between 115 and 120 degrees this weekend.

The highs could be on track to break a record for longest streak of temperatures above 110.

And if the forecast holds, Phoenix could also break the record for the longest stretch of low temperatures above 90 degrees.

National Weather Service meteorologist Isaac Smith says the monsoon storms are skipping the Valley this week.

"Mainly going to be looking at those monsoonal showers and thunderstorms to the north of Phoenix and across southeast Arizona," Smith said.

There is a 20% chance of showers on Monday and Tuesday nights.
