Arizona drivers now have even more license plates to choose from. The Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division unveiled five new specialty plate options on Friday.
Among them is a plate that supports rocker Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock Teen Centers in Phoenix and Tempe, which offer free art, music and dance programs for kids.
"Arizona is known for great sunsets, cactus, the best Mexican food, monsoons and, now, an Alice Cooper specialty license plate,” the musicians said in a press release.
Most specialty plates cost $25 annually, with $17 of that amount going to a designated charity or nonprofit group.
The other new plates support Arizona REALTORS Foundation for Housing and Community Outreach; Cancer Support Community Arizona’s emotional and social support services; students at Diné College on the Navajo Nation; and a U.S. Army plate that provides scholarships money for children of soldiers and spouses of active-duty enlisted soldiers.
The Arizona Coyotes and the Families of Fallen Police Officers plates have also been redesigned.
Arizona began offering specialty plates in 1989 and each one is approved by the Arizona Legislature. ADOT now offers almost 100 specialty designs, which include plates for both passenger vehicles and motorcycles.
