Mesa offers free small and micro business program

Qualifying small and micro enterprises in Mesa can get free help to grow their businesses.

Applications are being accepted for the Mesa Business Builder Small Business Assistance Program. It provides education, training and one-on-one consulting at no cost.

Topics include digital media, marketing, financial and computer literacy, retail management, restaurant operations and more. The program is designed for Mesa-based businesses with fewer than 25 full-time employees that are technology challenged, underserved or underbanked. The program offers no money but participants can get help developing a financial plan that could be used to apply for grants or loans.

The city’s website says the mission is to help “ build business competency, increase competitiveness and promote resiliency”.

Publicly held companies; real-estate investment firms; and enterprises involved in pyramid sales, gambling and cannabis are not eligible. Dealers of rare coins and stamps and people who are incarcerated or on parole are also excluded.
