Stop drilling projects in Patagonia Mountains, environmental groups ask judge

Environmental groups suing the Biden administration over two mining exploration projects in southern Arizona have asked a judge to halt the projects in the Patagonia Mountains.

The Forest Service is a defendant in the lawsuit filed by the environmental groups, who argued the agency violated the national Environmental Protection Act when it approved them.

One of the projects, the Sunnyside exploration project, would have a maximum drilling depth of 6,500 feet and last up to seven years, federal records show.
