Jonathan Clark spent the last 13 years as the managing editor at the Nogales International, the kind of small-town, twice-weekly newspaper that has a real impact on a community.
After more than a decade there, he stepped down last month, leaving behind him a legacy of great reporters who have come up through their ranks. Many of them wrote a full-page tribute to him in a recent edition of the paper, including some reporters who ended up here at KJZZ.
The Show spoke with him more about his time at the paper, the challenges facing local news and just how big of an impact he could have running a small-town newspaper now.
Last Friday, longtime @nogalesnews Managing Editor Jonathan Clark ended a remarkable tenure. A number of reporters who had the privilege to work under him were sad to see him go, but overjoyed to know that one of the finest editors to ever work in AZ is getting long overdue rest pic.twitter.com/kYobuuTR8z
