This summer could make or break blockbuster movies at theaters

It's summer, which used to mean big summer blockbusters were headed to theaters. But things have changed.

Instead of crowds flocking to movie theaters, people are opting to stream them from home.

Post-pandemic, Hollywood is still looking for the movie theater comeback that began to materialize last year.

The Show spoke with Kevin Sandler, who says that it's a make or break moment this summer. With big films including "Barbie," "Mission Impossible" and "Oppenheimer" on the docket, maybe this will be the summer the blockbuster comes back.

Sandler is an associate professor in ASU’s film and media studies program and the author of several books on the movie industry. He broke down the state of the blockbuster resurgence for The Show.
