Grammy-winning iconic singer Tony Bennett died Friday, less than two weeks shy of his 97th birthday.
Arizona music promoter Danny Zelisko met Bennett several decades ago and indicated the crooner had “no quit.”
“When other groups were just kind of fading off into the sunset, he’s recording with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He’s on the MTV [Video Music Awards]. He’s recording with [Lady] Gaga, Diana Krall and Willie Nelson,” said Zelisko.
Bennett — whose given name is Anthony Benedetto — was also a painter.
He told the Associated Press in 2006, he loved that form of art as much as singing because it gave him a “big lift” while battling fatigue on the road to performances.
