New images show migrants at AZ Border Patrol Station standing in the sun

Customs and Border Protection is reporting a 70% drop in illegal entries since the repeal of Title 42 in May. But tougher enforcement in border sectors in Texas is driving smugglers to western routes — including in Arizona. And, the extreme heat pummeling the Southwest has only added to the challenges for those migrants.

The Intercept has published images taken by one of its staff photographers. They show migrants being detained in chain-link pens with little or no shade at the Ajo Border Patrol Station in southern Arizona.

Ryan Devereaux wrote about the images for The Intercept — he joined The Show to talk about the conditions at the border station.
