The downsides of counting ballots by hand

A number of states this year have debated requiring hand counts of ballots and banning tabulators from doing the job.

In Arizona, Gov. Katie Hobbs vetoed a bill this year that would have allowed counties to conduct hand counts; some county officials have said they’d like to be able to do them.

Jessica Huseman, editorial director for Votebeat, says there are a number of downsides to counting ballots by hand. She joined The Show to explain more.
