Expert worries the Rio Verde Foothills water solution could lead to more problems

Residents of Rio Verde Foothills have a temporary solution to their water problem, as Gov. Katie Hobbs signed a bill last month to get water back into the community.

However, the bill did not deal with the issue of wildcat subdivisions, in which developers split lots and do not have to prove an assured 100-year water supply.

That issue is a concern to Rhett Larson, a professor of water law at ASU's Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law and a senior research fellow at the Kyl Center for Water Policy. Larson worries about the potential precedent this measure will set and he joined The Show to talk more about it.
