Arizona dispensaries recalling certain marijuana products for possible contamination

Several Arizona marijuana dispensaries are recalling certain products due to possible Aspergillus contamination.

The fungus can cause reactions ranging from cold-like symptoms to fevers and chest pain, among others.

The Arizona Department of Health services is telling consumers to check the batch number, product name and type with a table available on its website to see if their purchase could be affected.

"If all of those match, then that is a product that is being affected by this recall," said Travis Ross, the department’s public health sanitarian supervisor.

Ross said the issue was discovered by their lab compliance team.

“They conduct compliance inspections on the labs that test marijuana batches that are then sent out for sale," Ross said. "So the lab team informed us that there was a false negative for the presence of Aspergillus," Ross said.

He said people who have potentially contaminated products shouldn’t consume them. So far, no illnesses have been reported.
