Arizona has been dealing with a shortage of physicians, nurses and other health care providers for several years now. There have been efforts recently to try to deal with that, including ASU’s plan to start a new medical school in Phoenix, and Banner and UA College of Medicine – Phoenix expanding their residency programs.

A new group called the Healthy Arizona Workforce Coalition is also trying to get more providers into the state’s system.

The Show spoke with Dr. William Thompson, the new president of the Arizona Medical Association and a pain medicine specialist in the Valley, more about it.
