Arizona’s top election official is reacting to the latest indictment of former President Donald Trump, who was indicted Tuesday by a grand jury on four felony counts of trying to overturn his loss to President Joe Biden in 2020.
While Trump is innocent until proven guilty, Secretary of State Adrian Fontes believes it’s a victory for democracy and Arizona.
“It vindicates all of the work by poll workers, warehouse workers and election officials across the Grand Canyon State. We know we did our job well in 2020 and in 2022,” he said.
Among the charges, Trump is facing conspiracy to defraud the U.S., witness tampering, conspiracy against the rights of citizens, and obstruction of an official proceeding.
