Another migrant has died from the effects of extreme heat after crossing the Mexican border into Arizona.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection released a statement Friday saying the woman, who was a citizen of Colombia, was found in a remote location near Three Points.
In mid-July, the Border Patrol Search, Trauma, and Rescue team responded to a 911 call. They found the woman conscious, lethargic and vomiting.
Agents started treating her for heat stroke and took her to a Tucson hospital, where she later died.
Just a month earlier, a 9-year-old migrant child died at a hospital in Mesa after crossing the border with his mother and a sibling. His mother called 911 near Tubac after he began having seizures.
A medical examiner’s report said he died of hyperthermia, which is when the body overheats, and environmental heat exposure.
