Gov. Katie Hobbs has allocated $3.2 million for law enforcement in Pinal County.
Hobbs met with law enforcement and elected officials in Casa Grande on Monday morning.
She said the new funding is earmarked for combating border-related crimes.
It will be divided between police departments in Eloy, Casa Grande, Queen Creek, Florence and Coolidge.
Hobbs said rural Arizona communities are being strained and often expected to perform tasks without the necessary tools.
“So it’s a top priority of mine to ensure that every county is receiving proper resources that are tailored to their specific needs and that they’re not getting caught in the crosshairs of politics," Hobbs said.
She said the new funds will help combat human trafficking, update technology and increase personnel.
