President Joe Biden is expected to announce a new national monument around the Grand Canyon later Tuesday. Earlier this year, he named an historic Arizona route a National Historic Trail.
It’s called the Butterfield Trail, and before the transcontinental railroad took hold, it was an important link between the eastern and western United States.
The Show spoke more about it with Helen Erickson, Heritage Conservation Program project director at the University of Arizona.
