Which of these 10 freeway safety signs is your favorite? ADOT wants you to pick

Out of more than 3,700 entries, just 10 remain.

On Friday, the Arizona Department of Transportation released the finalists for its Safety Message Contest.

Arizonans were invited to submit their ideas last month during the seventh-annual contest, and the public now gets to decide which two make it onto ADOT's overhead freeway message boards.

ADOT uses the electronic signs to post funny and thoughtful messages meant to remind motorists about the importance of safe driving. The agency said it tries to make the signs timely, with frequent references to current events, holidays and pop culture.

This year’s finalists include nods to the new “Barbie” movie and the Valley’s hot weather, among others.

“Thousands of Arizonans believe that making better decisions while driving is important for safety, and they’re making their voices heard,” ADOT Director Jennifer Toth said in a press release. “We hope these conversations continue because when we all choose to make better decisions behind the wheel, everyone can reach their destinations safely.”

Voting is open through Aug. 17 at azdot.gov/SignContest.
