More kids are dying from fentanyl overdoses, in Arizona and across the U.S.

There has been a dramatic increase in the number of kids dying from fentanyl overdoses between 2013 and 2021.

A new investigation finds in several of these cases, the families involved were on the radar of child welfare agencies in the states in which they lived.

Lori Jane Gliha is a national investigative reporter for Scripps News. She spoke with about her reporting on the topic, including about how common it is that babies, toddlers and young kids are overdosing on fentanyl.
