Arizona sports betting revenue, taxes jump in June

More gamblers winning their wagers is how a state official explained the monthly year-over-year dive in sports betting revenue and taxes that Arizona saw in May.

Newly released numbers for June suggest that fortunes flowed the opposite way.

Sports betting revenue and taxes from June in Arizona more than doubled compared to the same month last year.

June revenue hit roughly $16.3 million, and taxes were about $1.6 million.

Both the NBA and the NHL held championship rounds in June.

The spike in revenue and taxes occurred comes after both fell almost 20 percent in May compared to the same month in 2022.

Separately, WynnBet recently said it’s closing its online platform in Arizona, where the company has been a sportsbook operator for the San Carlos Apache Tribe.
