More than 65K students are on ASU Online, a new university record

Students at one of the largest public universities in the United States are heading back to class this week — both on campus and online.

Arizona State University is expecting more than 144,000 undergraduate and graduate students enrolled for the fall 2023 semester, the school said in a press release.

That number includes more than 65,000 students taking courses through ASU Online, which is the most in school history.

ASU also said on-campus enrollment is nearly 80,000. ASU has students across four campuses across the Phoenix metro area. There are also ASU locations in Lake Havasu, California and Washington, D.C., among others.

About 60,000 students are from Arizona, including nearly 9,000 first-year students, which is also a record number of first-year students who are Arizona residents, ASU said.
