Downtown Chandler adding hotel rooms in New Square project

More hotel rooms are coming to downtown Chandler as part of the second phase of “New Square."

The Hilton Garden Inn will double its footprint to eight stories on the northeastern corner of Oregon and Chicago Streets. Plans call for adding green space and parking, a 3,500-square-foot conference room, and nearly 70 hotel rooms.

Built in 2019, the hotel is part of New Square Chandler, a mixed-use development with office, retail and restaurants. The area includes event and green space and walkways that connect people to the rest of downtown.

In a press release, the city said, “The design would be consistent with the Preliminary Development Plan previously approved by City Council. The added room inventory will not require the city to provide additional parking spaces in the Oregon Street Parking Garage.”

Chandler leaders recently approved plans for a  two-story venue across the street that will feature a central bar, multiple restaurants and live music. It will be built on a half-acre lot at the southwestern corner of Chicago and Oregon streets that’s sat vacant for more than a decade.
