The U.S. is facing its largest religious shift in history

We are going through the largest and fastest religious shift in the history of the United States. In the 1950s, almost no one identified as what pollsters call “nones,” or people who don’t identify with any particular religious group.

In more recent years, up to 30% of the population are nones.

When New York Times opinion writer Jessica Grose wanted to find out what her readers thought about this phenomenon in their own lives, she was overwhelmed with responses. Clearly, she had struck a nerve.

The Show spoke with Grose about the changes — beginning with just how fast Americans are losing their religion.
