A new kind of building material is helping transportation projects move along more quickly — including a section of the Valley’s light rail system. The projects are using concrete reinforced with fiber, which eliminates the need for rebar.
Barzin Mobasher says that this reinforcement alternative saves time and money.
Mobasher is with Arizona State University's School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment, and says even though the per-unit price is higher with the fiber-reinforced concrete, other savings over time make it a less expensive option.
He joined The Show to talk more about the project.
