Gas prices continue to climb in Arizona. And the most pain at the pump is in the Valley.
AAA Arizona spokesman Julian Paredes said the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas rose 6 cents over the past week to an average of $4.25. That’s 41 cents above the national average of $3.84
"We’re right in the middle of hurricane season on the East Coast," Paredes said. "There is a lot of concern about that. So, nationwide gas prices might be going up and down.
"Also, like Texas they’re kind of in the middle of a heat wave, too. That might trickle down to Arizona. So, things might be going up and down for a little bit."
He also blamed Tropical Storm Hilary for the local bump in prices.
The most expensive gas in Arizona is in Maricopa County at $4.48 a gallon, while the cheapest is in Greenlee County at $3.80.
