After a student was assaulted on campus over the weekend, the Arizona State University Police Department is still working to track down answers.
Police say the student was walking near Rural Road and Apache Boulevard around 3 a.m. Sunday morning “when they were attacked from behind by unknown subjects and struck in the head with a blunt object.”
Police spokesman Adam Wolfe said the student was taken to the hospital and didn’t suffer life-threatening injuries.
“I don’t believe detectives have determined any kind of motive at this time,” said Wolfe. “They’re still looking at all available information, trying to solve it.”
Wolfe said the investigation is particularly tough because the attack happened off camera. For now, he said students should walk in groups or use the university’s safety escort service.
