Recruitment drives are underway for volunteers to work in Arizona's child foster care system.
One role is to advocate in juvenile court for a kid’s best interest.
Charles Gray is the Court Appointed Special Advocates state office program manager. He said the volunteers, known as CASAs, first spend time getting to know the child and learning about their case.
“By extension they’re naturally going to end up having some level of mentorship with them. And a long lasting relationship,” said Gray.
Gray is also recruiting volunteers to serve on panels that review foster cases and make recommendations to juvenile court.
