McCain Institute gets terrorism prevention grant from Homeland Security

The McCain Institute at ASU is getting roughly three-quarters of a million dollars from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

The money is through a grant program aimed at helping local communities come up with and strengthen ways to stop targeted violence and terrorism.

The feds say the McCain Institute is collaborating with others to set up a program to teach awareness and prevention skills to middle school, high school and college students.

Matthew Casey has won Public Media Journalists Association and Edward R. Murrow awards since he joined KJZZ as a senior field correspondent in 2015.
