9/11 flag memorial comes back to Tempe Beach Park

An installation of American flags to remember the victims of 9/11 returns to Tempe Beach Park. Known as the Tempe Healing Field, the memorial calls for several volunteers to put up multiple flags before the event.

Nick Bastian is the chairman of the healing field.

“We’re very fortunate that we get so many people that come out to help us each year, certainly without volunteers, we really couldn’t do it or if we did, it would take us a really long time because it is a lot of work," he said.

Bastian said the event resonated with different types of people. A candlelight vigil to honor the victims will be held on Monday at 7 p.m.
