Díaz and Montini: Ending gun show loophole gets us closer to universal background checks

Over the weekend, Phoenix was home to a large gun show: the Crossroads of the West Phoenix Gun Show at the Arizona State Fairgrounds. You might have seen signs up advertising for it recently.

And, if you’ve heard even slices of the debate over gun control over the last several decades, one of the big sticking points has long been the so-called gun show loophole.

In a recent column for the Arizona Republic, E.J. Montini said that show here over the weekend was one of the last chances for people to use that loophole.

Montini joined The Show along with editorial page editor Elvia Diaz to talk more about the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is tightening up its rules.
