The 2023 monsoon season could be the driest on record for the Valley

Despite the rain that fell in much of the Valley last week, forecasters say this could be the driest monsoon on record for this portion of the state.

Phoenix-based meteorologist Jessica Leffler said that potential record will be buttressed by a lack of rain for the near future.

"The monsoon will end Sept. 30, so we only have about 15 days left. Right now it looks like those dry conditions are going to prevail at least throughout the next seven days," said Leffler.

The National Weather Service is forecasting high temperatures in the low triple digits for Phoenix through midweek.
