Idaho Gov. Brad Little is responding to concerns over the University of Idaho’s agreement to purchase the for-profit University of Phoenix. U.S. Sens. Elizabeth Warren, Dick Durbin and Richard Blumenthal raised those concerns in a letter to University of Idaho President Scott Green.
The letter urged Green to reconsider the deal given the University of Phoenix’s record. The senators cited the for-profit’s history of “predatory and abusive behaviors,” including false advertising.
Green previously acknowledged how past controversies reshaped the University of Phoenix and that it has been working to repair its reputation.
In May, Idaho’s Board of Education approved the purchase agreement.
In his response, Little said the agreement brings benefits to the people of Idaho and urged the senators to not interfere with Idaho’s education efforts.
The deal is subject to regulatory approval.
. @SenWarren, @SenatorDurbin & @SenBlumenthal - if you spent as much time focused on securing the U.S.-Mexico border as you did @uidaho, we’d have fewer drugs pouring in. Instead of worrying about Idaho, do your job and pass a responsible federal budget. My full response here: https://t.co/4mBE39aqOB pic.twitter.com/oZeh25691C
