Cindy McCain says the United Nations’ World Food Programme is facing its biggest shortfall in the last 60 years.
The program’s executive director appeared on ABC’s “This Week” over the weekend, saying the program does not have enough money to make it through October.
She said that could lead to pulling food aid from Afghanistan, which could lead to famine.
"We are in a desperate situation, and it's a combination of things. It’s COVID, it’s climate change, it’s conflict, and it’s also the cost of being able to do business," McCain said.
The widow of Senator John McCain added that the conflict in Ukraine has drawn a lot of international funding, which has drawn attention away from other conflicts globally.
